DWIGHT EISENHOWER was a prolific artist but rarely gave away his drawings and to this date very few pieces drawn by the President have ever come up for auction. Eisenhower's self portraits were among his favorite drawings and exist in a few unique private collections.
 
Eisenhower's unsigned self-portrait was obtained DIRECTLY from the estate of globetrotting Danish chef, ELNA GADE (1906-1978) who removed it from a note pad after a LUNCHEON WITH THE PRESIDENT. Gade was a private chef for Hollywood superstar entertainer Bebe Daniels (1901-1971), actor/20th Century Fox executive Ben Lyon (1901-1979), producer Jack Cummings (1905-1989) and millionaire John D. Rockefeller III (1906-1978). Behind the mat, Mrs. Gade attached several clippings to the portrait that reference the luncheon.
