President of the Confederate States of America JEFFERSON DAVIS (1808 - 1889) double signed handwritten autograph letter and signed in full as "Jefferson Davis". Secondary signature in the third person as he references Mrs. "Davis".

Approximately 30+ words in Davis' hand offering his "love and tenderest sympathy to Mrs. Browne" and inviting her to "let me hear from you at Balto. [Baltimore], where "Mrs. Davis + our children are in Md."

A remarkable association piece with Davis for someone arguably responsible for one of the single greatest "Wars" this country has every seen.
