***** The Signaturist-Ink hereby certifies that this signature is a Limited Numbered Edition and one of 35 original autographs obtained directly from the living descendants of President William McKinley. Following his assassination, the signatures were removed from McKinley’s personal checks and documents, and intended to be sent as remembrances for admirers of the late President. The remaining autographs were stored away for over 120 years, having been passed down from McKinley’s sister, Sarah McKinley Duncan. *****

WILLIAM McKINLEY, Jr. (1843 – 1901) was the 25th President of the United States, serving from March 4, 1897, until his assassination in September 1901, six months into his second term. McKinley led the nation to victory in the Spanish–American War, raised protective tariffs to promote American industry, and maintained the nation on the gold standard in a rejection of inflationary proposals. McKinley was also the last American president to have served in the Civil War.
