Legendary United Kingdom Prime Minister WINSTON S. CHURCHILL hand-signed letter as Prime Minister on 10 Downing Street stationery. In a letter marked "Personal and Confidential" Churchill writes to British Diplomat William Strang offering to submit his name to the Queen so he may be conferred the title of Baron. A rare insight into the innerworkings of nobility in England. Churchill has handwritten "My dear Strang," and "yours sincerely Winston S. Churchill".
Strang had been personally involved in negotiating Germany's terms of surrender following WWII as a member of the European Advisory Commission. Ultimately, Churchill's recommendation to the Queen merited Strang the title, 1st Baron Strang.
