7th President of the United States ANDREW JACKSON partly printed partial land grant signed AS PRESIDENT dated November 15, 1831. Folded vertically along the left edge, the lower portion of the full document has been encapsulated here retaining the original embossed eagle Great Seal of the United States. Jackson's signature measures slightly over 6.5" from end to end, a truly striking and visually appealing signature from Jackson!
By 1833, Jackson had apparently tired of this tedious procedure, and passed the task along to his son to sign on his behalf. Other Presidents eventually followed suit and almost all land grants after that date were signed in proxy by secretaries, and not by the President.
