Official TYPE 1 first generation chromogenic 8" x 10" red-numbered NASA glossy print of the complete crew of Apollo 11 – the first mission to land a man on the moon.
The NASA photograph, identified as "S-69-31739," identifies an official period lab print and features purple NASA caption text to reverse and the original vintage NASA "meatball" logo.
PSA defines TYPE 1 as a "1st generation photograph developed from the original negative, during the period of time (within approximately 2 years of when the picture was taken)." According to PSA, "Type 1 photographs are the most desirable and valuable of the four photograph types because of their vintage and originality."
These vintage prints were distributed in limited numbers to NASA and the press. This is certainly one of the most collectible of the NASA red number photographs.
Condition is as shown. Item is in good condition with expected signs of age, wear use and handling including toning, and bumped/creased corner at lower right not affecting the image. Residue in photo finish over Aldrin's shoulder. Encapsulated by PSA as an authentic TYPE 1 photograph.
