30th U.S. President CALVIN COOLIDGE authentic partial legal document signed establishing a trust for his only surviving son, John. Signed at conclusion by Coolidge, and countersigned by Coolidge's longtime law partner and close personal friend, Ralph W. Hemenway, as President of the Hampshire County Trust Co.
It is believed to be for a literary asset/copyright trust for the benefit of Coolidge' son, John. The Hampshire County Trust Company was apparently responsible for holding or administering those assets and making distribution to John. The trust apparently held investment assets and potential literary properties generating interest and dividends from which distributions were to be made to John.
Coolidge's youngest son, Calvin Jr. had died tragically, at age 16 from a staph infection and sepsis, a loss that devastated the President. Coolidge's older surviving son, John, graduated from Amherst College (his father's alma mater) and went on to have a successful corporate career before passing away at the age of 93 in 2000.
