KELLER SPENDS A WISTFUL CHRISTMAS SEASON MOURNING THE LOSS OF HER BELOVED TEACHER, ANNE SULLIVAN MACY: "NO OTHER PART OF THIS LIFE WILL BE THE SAME WITHOUT TEACHER..."

American author, disability rights advocate, educator and lecturer HELEN KELLER uncommon typewritten letter of wistful Christmas content, from Scotland, mourning the loss of Anne Sullivan Macy, her beloved teacher and lifelong companion. Macy had died just two months earlier.

Following Macy's tragic death in October 1936, Keller and her longtime companion Polly Thomson (who hailed from Glasgow) sailed for Scotland to heal and readjust, seeking peace and recuperation at the quiet manse of Bothwell.

In part:

"I thank you very much for a sweet Christmas thought that helped me through a season I found difficult, laden with wistfulness. No holiday, no other part of this life will be the same without Teacher, but I bless the friends who loved her and whose kindness will be a staff to me on my further journeyings."

Keller concludes optimistically, stating "... the highland air is putting fresh vim into me for the homecoming to New York and what bids to be another crowded year..." and bids a fond farewell, closing on a sweet note, "P.S. The dogs join in our messages with a wag of their golden tails".

Keller learned to use block printing to write and sign her name. Her handwriting and signature bears this specific style because of the use of an assistive writing board and a method called "square-hand".

The HELEN KELLER typewritten letter has been thoroughly reviewed and CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC BY PSA/DNA EXPERT EXAMINATION and encapsulated using PSA/DNA's proprietary sonically-sealed slab technology. GUARANTEED GENUINE.
