J. EDGAR HOOVER FBI Director Autograph SUPREME COURT Stamp Set Signed * PSA

$165.00

Guaranteed Authentic

Controversial FBI Director J. EDGAR HOOVER autographed Harlan F. Stone stamp block. Hoover signs the circa 1948 3¢ stamp trio with a bold fountain pen signature. It was Stone who in 1924 appointed the 29-year old Hoover as Acting Director of the Bureau of Investigation (later becoming the FBI).

Harlan Fiske Stone served as Attorney General of the United States, Associate Justice, and later Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. In 1946, at the age of 73, Stone died of a cerebral hemorrhage while on the bench; He is the only Supreme Court justice to have died during an open court session.

While initially admired for modernizing the FBI and tackling gangsters, Hoover would later became notorious for secret surveillance, blackmailing politicians, and targeting activists like MLK Jr. – and later for his own scandalous activities.

The Hoover autographed stamp block has been thoroughly reviewed and CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC by PSA/DNA Authentication Services expert examination, and has been slabbed inside PSA/DNA's proprietary sonically-sealed encapsulate. UNCONDITIONALLY GUARANTEED GENUINE.
