The mat was authentically signed by Garcia and the artwork and plaque were subsequently added at a later date.
The iconic 1966 "Skeleton and Roses" psychedelic poster for the Avalon ballroom was designed by artists Alton Kelly and Stanley "Mouse" Miller, and is based on an illustration by Edmund Joseph Sullivan for an old edition of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.
