Jimmy Carter's personally owned and well-used wooden artist's easel, from the estate of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter. This is the same easel where many of President Carter's original paintings were created, as witnessed by the dozens of paint daubs, splatters and spills – photomatched to this easel which was kept in his former garage converted to his studio. The studio and easel were prominently featured in a 60 MINUTES profile of President Carter from 2010.

In 2010, President Carter even painted a self-portrait of himself using this same easel.

Jimmy Carter was an accomplished artist who began painting in grade school and more seriously while he was in the Navy. He found painting to be a highly relaxing, meditative, and a quiet escape from his high-stress public life, often using art as a way to find peace and solitude. Over his lifetime he produced more than 100 paintings – many using this very easel – capturing natural landscapes, wildlife and his beloved hometown of Plains, Georgia.

In June 2021, a Carter original oil painting in an online charity auction sold for $1,000,000. More recently, his primitive landscapes have brought nearly $250,000. 

Standing over 7' tall, the solid wood easel features adjustable workspace height and tilt, on casters, and measures appx. 87.25" x 25.33" x 34".
