Pulitzer Prize Winning WWII Combat Photographer JOE ROSENTHAL autograph RAISING THE FLAG ON IWO JIMA dramatic, oversized colorized vintage custom-framed poster print signed. Rosenthal signs at the bottom right corner of the Associated Press Newsphoto alongside the caption, "Marines on Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima Feb 23, 1945." Rosenthal's original image was photographed black and white but subsequently colorized to raise money and support for the war effort. 

Taken during the 1945 battle of Iwo Jima, Rosenthal's iconic picture of six Marines raising the U.S. flag atop Mount Suribachi has become one of the best-known photographs of the war, and was even replicated as the United States Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington County, Virginia. Three of the 6 soldiers depicted would later be killed in action during the ferocious battle. Later that year, the dramatic image would earn Rosenthal the Pulitzer Prize.
