KING GEORGE III Autograph CUT SIGNATURE Signed * England * PSA & JSA

$795.00

Guaranteed Authentic

Last Monarch to rule the American colonies, KING GEORGE III of England, handsome cut signature, removed from a Royal document. The monarch signs as, "George R". An excellent autograph certainly predating his eventual descent into madness when his signatures got noticeably sloppier.

Collector's notation across the top that "Signature of George 3d from Mrs. Lockyer". While we can't be fully certain, it would appear that it was referring to the wife of Major Edmund Lockyer, a British military officer, explorer and settler who founded the first European settlement in Western Australia comprised of just 20 troops and 23 convicts. Lockyer even named the site Frederickstown after His Royal Highness, the second son of George III.

In 1773, George III had passed an act taxing tea in the colonies. Angered, the Americans complained of taxation without representation and staged the Boston Tea Party, leading to the start of the American Revolution in April 1775 with the Battles of Lexington and Concord.

The GEORGE III cut signature has been thoroughly examined and CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC BY PSA/DNA EXPERT EXAMINATION, and encapsulated using PSA/DNA's proprietary sonically-sealed technology. Also includes JSA LOA. GUARANTEED GENUINE. A museum-quality acquisition for any collection.

Condition is as shown, consistent with age, wear, use and handling. Cut signature measures appx. 3.5" x 2" inside appx. 5.25" x 3" encapsulate.
