KING GEORGE III & GEORGE IV Autograph CUT SIGNATURES Signed * UK * PSA/DNA
Guaranteed Authentic
FATHER AND SON: The last Monarch to rule the American colonies, KING GEORGE III of England, and his progeny, KING GEORGE IV autograph cut signatures removed from official royal documents.
There are two cut signatures from George IV on SIDE ONE – circa 1811 as Prince Regent, "on behalf of His Majesty", and the second, flowing signature from later in 1821 having ascended to the throne as King. SIDE TWO features a distorted signature from GEORGE III in the late stages of his mental illness.
George III is perhaps best known as the last King to rule the American colonies. George had passed an act taxing tea in the colonies. Angered, the Americans complained of taxation without representation and staged the Boston Tea Party, leading to the start of the American Revolution in April 1775 with the Battles of Lexington and Concord – and the beginning of the end of George's reign over the colonies.
Following in his father's footsteps, GEORGE IV was King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 1820 until his death in 1830. At the time of his accession to the throne, he was acting as Prince Regent for his father, having done so since 1811 during his father's final mental illness.
