EXCEPTIONAL 1964 ROBERT F. KENNEDY LETTER MENTIONING BOTH JACKIE AND JFK
Legendary lawyer, Attorney General and Senator ROBERT F. KENNEDY fantastic content letter on his personal letterhead dated September 28, 1964 and referencing both Jackie and "...my brother, President Kennedy." An excellent association piece of all three key Kennedy figures in one letter.
Less than one year after his brother's assassination, Attorney General Bobby personally reaches out to paralyzed athlete Brian Sternberg to tell him that, "I noted from press reports that you have been able to write Mrs. John F. Kennedy a letter replying to one which you received last year from my brother, President Kennedy." RFK continues, "You are to be congratulated on this achievement. I am sure it took more courage to write the letter than it did to clear the bar at 16 feet, 8 inches when you set the world record in pole vaulting a few weeks before your accident.
President Kennedy would have been proud of you as all of us are."
Sternberg was a world-record holder athlete in the men's pole vault who was tragically paralyzed from the neck down after a trampoline accident in 1963.
Includes original mailing envelope which indicates the RFK letter was likely sent while visiting the Kennedy family's home base in NYC's Carlyle Hotel, where JFK, Jackie, John Jr. and Caroline occupied a duplex there.
