Sent from Roosevelt's beloved Sagamore Hill estate, in Oyster Bay. From 1885 until his death in 1919, the 83-acre estate served as his home as well as his "Summer White House" during his presidency. 1916 found Roosevelt declining another third-party presidential run, but campaigning for fellow Republican Charles E. Hughes, promoting "Americanism", and preparing for his sons' military service.
