THOMAS JEFFERSON Autograph FREE FRANK Panel Handwritten AS PRESIDENT Signed PSA

Legendary Founding Father and Third President of the United States THOMAS JEFFERSON handwritten address Free Frank front panel (circa 1801 - 1809) signed as President. Jefferson hand addresses the envelope to "Mr. James Oldham / at mr Galligo's / Richmond", and franks at upper left as "free / Th. Jefferson / Pr[esident]. US". An excellent and rare inscription from Jefferson in which he inscribes his title as President!

JAMES OLDHAM was a skilled free white joiner, carpenter and builder hired by Jefferson to work at Monticello from 1801 - 1808. He was highly regarded for his in-house joinery, including work on "air closets" (privies) and later supplied building materials and advice from Richmond.

PSA has evaluated the signature and assigned a NM 7 rating. The PSA/DNA Near Mint (NM) 7 autograph grading denotes a strong, high-quality signature that may have minor flaws yet retains excellent overall eye appeal.
