$3,250.00

Guaranteed Authentic

Churchill answers a question about wealth and economics explaining: "...the amount of money in the world is not reduced by the number of times it changes hands, but the wealth of the world is greatly affected by whether it is usefully employed at the moment of exchange..."

British statesman and UK icon WINSTON S. CHURCHILL authentic, choice early autograph letter on his personal 105 MOUNT STEET personal stationery. The 29-year-old Churchill replies to a friendly inquiry as to his thoughts on money and its impact on wealth. Written in a secretarial hand, it is authentically signed at the conclusion as "Winston S. Churchill"

Elected a conservative Member of Parliament in 1900, Churchill defected to the Liberals in 1904. In future Prime Minister H.H. Asquith's Liberal government, young Churchill was a rising star – president of the Board of Trade and later Home Secretary.

A fantastic association piece between the young Churchill and his Mayfair luxury pied-à-terre "bachelor pad", once home to lavish parties, political scheming – and much cigar smoke.

When Churchill moved into 105 Mount Street, a luxury mansion block apartment owned by his cousin Charles “Sunny” Spencer-Churchill, the 9th Duke of Marlborough, the 29-year-old was already regarded as a Victorian war hero and a successful author. He lived there until 1905.
