CUSTER'S LAST STAND * Original Battlefield Dug Artifact * LITTLE BIGHORN * COA
$625.00
Guaranteed Authentic
Authentic BRASS CAVALRY BUTTON battlefield artifact attributed to the Battle of Little Bighorn and excavated from private land bordering the Little Bighorn battle site, near Crow Agency, Montana. From the renowned KY BUCKNER COLLECTION of Little Bighorn Artifacts, in a handsome LIMITED EDITION framed display, featuring custom graphic display sheet.
Buckner owned and operated a service station and pottery shop across from the battlefield park entrance, and excavated and catalogued hundreds of artifacts there during the 1960s, amassing one of the largest "Custer's Last Stand" collections in private hands.
Display contains one authentic brass eagle and shield cavalry button as excavated on the Little Bighorn battlefield, and in as found condition. Button is flattened and incurred heavy damage, as shown, indicative of the violent battle which took place there as the exposed troopers had little cover against the overwhelming Indian massacre. Certainly one of the most personal items from the horrific fighting that day.
The site of intense fighting June 25th and 26th, 1876, “Custer’s Last Stand” as it is commonly referred to, was an armed engagement between the combined forces of the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes resulting in the overwhelming defeat of the 7th Cavalry regiment of the United States Army.
Accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity from SIGNATURIST-INK attesting to the provenance of the Buckner Collection.
>>>> NOTE: BUCKNER COLLECTION image is shown FOR REFERENCE ONLY, and as provenance for this original battlefield artifact. This auction is for one (1) battlefield artifact, as shown, from the BUCKNER COLLECTION. Please ask any questions if you are unclear before purchasing. <<<<
