WINNIE THE POOH author A.A. MILNE authentic autograph personal 13 Mallord Street stationery featuring a print of E.H. Shepard's beloved depiction of Pooh and Piglet wandering the 100 Acre Wood. Milne signs towards the top and adds a dramatic paraph beneath his simple signature.
With original handwritten transmittal letter from Milne's private secretary, Celia Brice, indicating Milne was delighted by the response to his most recent play and "is sending you his autograph without charge". Celia Brice was the fictional name used by Milne's wife, Daphne, to answer his fan mail and manage his correspondence.
Milne's sheet of stationery is authentically signed by him; the Shepard drawing is a facsimile print which was added at a later date.
Shepard's iconic 1926 illustration "Pooh and Piglet go hunting" is from Winnie-the-Pooh, Chapter 3. Shepard based his Pooh Bear sketches on toy bears owned by Christopher Robin Milne and his own son.
