ABRAHAM LINCOLN * PSA * Autograph Lengthy Handwritten Legal Case SIGNED

Legendary 16th President of the United States, ABRAHAM LINCOLN, entirely handwritten and signed legal brief circa 1844. Lengthy 50+ words written in the same hand that wrote the Gettysburg Address and signed the emancipation proclamation just a few years later. Not only does Lincoln write every word, he signs at the conclusion “Lincoln”. 

The entirety of the front of the document is in Lincoln's hand and it is signed at conclusion, "Logan & Lincoln, PQ". (PQ is a legal term for Plaintiff's Counsel). This document was signed during Lincoln's legal partnership with his second law partner Stephen T. Logan. One of the very few handwritten Lincoln documents available for sale.

This document relates to when Lincoln was hired by the law firm of Browning & Bushnell to seek a judgment for the remaining balance of an unpaid debt as well as damages and related costs. Lincoln would remain friends with both Browning and Bushnell into his Presidency, and Bushnell - by then a Senator - would attend his Lincoln's autopsy.

Condition is as shown. Additional notations and docketing on the reverse, in unknown hand. Partial separation at fold archivally mended on reverse, not affecting the Lincoln signature. Document measures appx. 3.5" x 7.5" inside 5.5" x 12" encapsulate, and exhibits typical wear consistent with age, use and handling including, paper loss, folds, stains and toning.
