A remarkable chance to own a section of handwriting from the same hand that wrote the Gettysburg Address!
Before becoming President Abraham Lincoln worked as a lawyer, often defending ordinary people in court and earning a reputation for honesty and fairness. This handwritten section originated from a legal brief written by Lincoln on July 14th, 1856. Lincoln represented the "Ohio + Mississippi Railroad Company" in a case against "Eads & Nelson". Eads & Nelson was a company that salvaged sixty of the railroad's cars after they sank in the Ohio River between Louisville, Kentucky, and St. Louis. The railroad and the salvage company differed on the amount of compensation that Eads & Nelson should receive for salvaging fifty-two of the sixty cars.
