$7,995.00

Guaranteed Authentic

Letter signed dated September 6, 1799, from New York and signed "A. Hamilton" at conclusion. With second additional free frank signature on verso. An extraordinary document signed twice by the American hero.

Hamilton responds to an earlier letter from Major John H Buell [not present]. At the time of the letter Hamilton was the Senior Officer of the United States army being outranked only by George Washington. Washington's role was largely ceremonial, and Hamilton led de facto command over the army.

Condition is as shown. One page, appx. 7 7/8" x 6 1/8" inside 10" x 13" encapsulate. Flattened folds and toning. Foxing and staining throughout. Bottom panel is lacking, slightly affecting the "A" in the franking signature.
