Legendary Pop Artist and Cultural Icon ANDY WARHOL authentic DOUBLE SIGNED (2x) autograph Campbell's Soup Can felt tip drawing inside his book, "The Philosophy of Andy Warhol (From A to B & Back Again)". Warhol inscribes, "To Barton, Andy Warhol" over a doodle of his famous soup can image inscribed with "Campbell's Tomato Soup", in Warhol's hand. Additionally, a large black marker initialed signature ("A.W.") runs up the side of the page. Unclipped $7.95 DJ, first edition / believed to be first printing.
A leading figure in the Pop art movement, Warhol's work explores the relationship between advertising, consumerism, mass media and celebrity culture. Among his best-known early silkscreen paintings are Campbell's Soup Can (1962), Marilyn Diptych (1962) and Coca-Cola (3) (1962). Warhol died at the age of 58 following gallbladder surgery in 1987. Warhol is also widely credited with popularizing the expression, "15 minutes of fame".
Warhol's book, "The Philosophy of Andy Warhol", is an assemblage of vignettes about love, beauty, fame, work, sex, time, death, economics, success and art based on taped conversations with the famed Pop artist.
