APOLLO 11 RADIO ANNOUNCER USED NASA APOLLO 11 MISSION EVALUATION ACCESS BADGE

A fantastic pass that would've put you in the room with the team that landed man on the moon! Scarce original and used NASA Apollo 11 Mission Evaluation historic "First Manned Lunar Landing" Pass entitling the bearer to access the Mission Evaluation Room on the Third Floor of Building 45. This pass is in the horizontal configuration.

In PSA's 20+ year history they have graded just 7 of these passes labeled "Mission Control Center". Far more scarce than the common launch passes from Kennedy Space Center.

The pass was issued to JOHN BOYNTON, a (KMSC) Kennedy Manned Spacecraft C enter engineer in the Mission Planning and Analysis Division. During Apollo 11, Boynton served double duty as a radio announcer covering the lunar launch and landing.

The Mission Evaluation team, working in the Mission Evaluation Room (MER) in Building 45, provided support 24/7 during the mission, using three shifts of personnel organized under individual shift team leaders. The specific disciplines represented for each spacecraft’s systems were: telecommunications, crew systems, electronic systems, propulsion and power, guidance and control, structures and mechanics, and thermal control. Over a hundred people supported the MER during the Apollo missions.

A very similar PR 1 used example of a mission control access badge recently sold at auction for $2250.

Condition is as shown, with toning consistent with age and wear. Pass measures appx. 2.5" x 3.5" and is encapsulated in a 4.25" x 7.25" PSA holder.

Sold as is, as shown.
