The engraving shows the front approach to the North Portico entrance of the White House. The North Portico is where the president traditionally greets arriving guests. This view is currently the closest a pedestrian can get to the White House.

Harrison served as President from 1889 to 1893.  Constructed between 1792 and 1800, the White House's official title from 1818 to 1901 was the Executive Mansion; The name was changed by executive order to the White House in 1901. It was during the Chester Arthur administration that the Executive Mansion / White House engravings first appeared and became popular collectibles.
