Israel's "Founding Father" and first Prime Minister of the State of Israel, DAVID BEN-GURION autographed "Proclamation of the State of Israel" 150p Lighted Menorah stamp sheet featuring 12 stamps, circa 1955. Signed across the margin as, "D. Ben-Gurion". A fantastic association piece between one of its primary founders and the then newly-formed state, the Menorah is an ancient symbol of the Jewish people, appearing in the Bible and on Israel's coat of arms.
The Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Ben-Gurion formally declared the establishment of Israel on May 14, 1948. Posthumously, Ben-Gurion was named one of Time magazine's 100 Most Important People of the 20th Century.
