32nd President of the United States, FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT matte sepia 8.25" x 9.25" portrait signed at lower left margin in fountain pen. Lightly signed at lower right by unknown artist. In the upper left the artist has dated the portrait 1938. Due to the fact Roosevelt died in office, this portrait could only have been signed AS PRESIDENT!
Roosevelt served as President from 1933 until his death in 1945. He was the longest serving U.S. President, and the only one to have served more than two terms. His first two terms were centered on the Great Depression, while his third and fourth saw him shift his focus to America's involvement in World War II.

NOTE: several occurrences of "Newton's Ring" appear on the reverse side of the encapsulate (the rings that look like little air bubbles trapped inside). This is an optical illusion and occasional byproduct of the slabbing process, not affecting the autograph.
