HELEN KELLER Autograph HANDWRITTEN NOTE Signed and Inscribed 1938 * PSA

$1,500.00

Guaranteed Authentic

American author, disability rights advocate, educator and lecturer HELEN KELLER uncommon handwritten autograph note signed on her personal stationery, commending "Jean / whom I shall remember / for her true and leal (sic) / heart / Helen Keller  April 29th, 1938". Keller writes from her home in Forest Hills, NY to compliment an unknown "Jean" for her presumably "loyal" heart.

In 1938, the world-famous 57 year old Keller had just published her book, Helen Keller's Journal, and met First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Keller also traveled to Rochester, MN for a medical evaluation at the Mayo Clinic and visited classrooms of deaf students. Later that year, she left her Queens, NY home to relocate to her custom-built estate called Arcan Ridge in Connecticut.

Keller learned to use block printing, her handwriting was consistently upright like the writing in calligraphy. Her handwriting and signature bears this specific style because of the use of an assistive writing board and a method called "square-hand". People with visual disabilities would place a piece of paper on the writing board which had horizontal grooves in it, creating lines that could be felt as a person's hand moved across the page, keeping their writing straight. Writing within the grooves gave letters a square appearance, hence the term.

The HELEN KELLER handwritten note has been thoroughly reviewed and CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC BY PSA/DNA EXPERT EXAMINATION and encapsulated using PSA/DNA's proprietary sonically-sealed slab technology. GUARANTEED GENUINE.
