Keller comments on her Oscar-Winning film:
"There was no chance for me last Wednesday to tell you how I loved the wonderful audience, and was thrilled by their applause..."
American author, disability rights advocate and lecturer HELEN KELLER two page typed letter signed, dated January 11, 1954, 1p., 2s., on Keller's Arcan Ridge personal letterhead to Nancy Hamilton regarding the release of the Oscar-winning Keller biographical film, "The Unconquered" (a.k.a. Helen Keller in Her Story).
Nancy Hamilton was the Director of the chronicle of Keller's life featuring archival footage covering everything from her early childhood education under Anne Sullivan, to her writing and activism at age 73. The Keller biopic went on to win the 1956 Academy Award Winner for Best Documentary, Features.
Keller thanks Hamilton for her Christmas gift of silver peppers, and her gratitude from attending the recent film screening, and hearing the applause, "...seeing how much Katharine, you, Adele Levy and others have staked on the film. Earnestly, I put up a prayer that it justifies your expectations." (Katharine Cornell was the film's narrator).
Keller learned to use block printing to write and sign her name. Her handwriting and signature bears this specific style because of the use of an assistive writing board and a method called "square-hand".
The KELLER autograph has been thoroughly reviewed and CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC BY PSA/DNA EXPERT EXAMINATION and encapsulated using PSA/DNA's proprietary sonically-sealed slab technology – your assurance of absolute authenticity.
Helen Keller was a prolific author, writing 14 books and hundreds of speeches and essays on topics ranging from animals to Mahatma Gandhi. Keller campaigned for those with disabilities and for women's suffrage, labor rights, and world peace. She was a founding member of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). She became the first
deafblind person in the United States to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree.
NOTE: several examples of "Newton's Ring" appear on the reverse side of the encapsulate (the rings that look like little air bubbles trapped inside) -- a common, harmless byproduct of the slabbing process of larger items, not affecting the autograph or paper.
