Scottish inventor, engineer and chemist, JAMES WATT short authentic handwritten autograph note, possibly excised from an autograph letter. Approximately 28 words in Watt's hand and signed in text as, "J.W."

"If sold write in 2 days after receipt of this it will probably come in time or you may write on it in absence to JW junior."

Watt has signed his name in text as "J.W." when referring to his son, James Watt, Jr.

Watt was celebrated for developing the modern steam engine, called the Watt steam engine, in 1776. He is also the namesake of the watt, a unit of measure of energy transfer. In 1807, Watt's son provided a Watt steam engine to Robert Fulton for use on the Hudson River, heralding the arrival of the steamship age.
