SCARCE, DESIRABLE ARTIST'S PROOF ETCHING OF GARCIA'S BEST KNOWN IMAGE

Legendary Grateful Dead leader and musician JERRY GARCIA authentic hand-signed autograph original ARTIST'S PROOF offset print on paper of Garcia's fantastic "FISH" etching, in vintage framed display. Garcia signs with a bold pencil signature on the mat at lower right, along with "AP" / Artist's Proof pencil designation at lower left.

The best known of Garcia's etchings, used for both his wine and merch, this much reproduced image was the first Garcia selected. Editioned by Roberta Weir and printed by Weir Gallery Graphics circa 1991 on Arches cream paper, there were only 50 Artist's Proofs produced. 

The print was purchased at one of the first gallery showings of Jerry's work in 1991. The band was in town for 6 shows at the Boston Garden in September. At the same time Renjeau Gallery in Concord had Jerry's art exhibition. This Piece was purchased at that exhibition. One of only 50 Artist proof's, not all of which were signed

Garcia would typically only sign his prints as they were sold; Consequently, when he passed away in 1995, there wasn't a stockpile of signed pieces. For that reason, his authentic, hand-signed artwork is highly collectible today.
