The Mustering-out Payment Act was a U.S. federal law passed in 1944 that provided money to servicemen, returning from the Second World War, to help them restart their lives as civilians.
Kennedy represented a working-class Boston district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1947 - 1953, prior to his election to the U.S. Senate where he served from 1953 - 1960. The 36-year old JFK also married 24-year old Jackie in 1953.
