Sixth President of the United States JOHN QUINCY ADAMS striking reproduction portrait cut signature affixed to custom card.
With traces of printing above, the signature was almost certainly removed from an Adams Land Grant signed as President.
The portrait depicts Adams, seated facing left, hands folded. According to the Metropolitan Museum of Art web site, this image is a copy of a lost daguerrotype of Adams taken by Philip Haas ca. 1843. However, conflicting reports says it was taken ca. 1847, a year before Adams' death.
