KING GEORGE III * PSA/DNA * Cut Signature Autograph Royal License Signed

$895.00

Guaranteed Authentic

Last Monarch to rule the American colonies, KING GEORGE III of England, handsome cut signature removed from a Royal License document authorizing "Mr. Wm Manwaring"..."to sell", with intact royal seal. It is unknown what he was authorized to sell.

The monarch signs as, "George R" with a large, neat autograph certainly predating his descent into madness when his signatures got noticeably sloppier.

Generally Royal Licenses were granted to allow a British company to import and sell goods from an international port. In this particular case, the bottom line reflects this in the secretarially written words for William Manwaring, "authorizing him to sell..."

In 1773, George III had passed an act taxing tea in the colonies. Angered, the Americans complained of taxation without representation and staged the Boston Tea Party, leading to the start of the American Revolution in April 1775 with the Battles of Lexington and Concord.

The GEORGE III autograph has been thoroughly examined and CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC BY PSA/DNA EXPERT EXAMINATION, and encapsulated using PSA/DNA's proprietary sonically-sealed technology. UNCONDITIONALLY GUARANTEED GENUINE. An investment-quality acquisition for any collection.
