LESLIE GROVES * PSA * Autograph Card Signed * OPPENHEIMER Manhattan Project

$795.00

Guaranteed Authentic

United States Army Lt. General LESLIE R. GROVES index card signed with bold black ink full signature and with additional "Lieut Gen USA (Ret)" rank inscription also in Groves' hand. Groves was a United States Army Corps of Engineers officer who oversaw the construction of the Pentagon and directed the Manhattan Project, a top secret research project that developed the atomic bomb during World War II.

Famously portrayed by actor Matt Damon in the blockbuster movie OPPENHEIMER, Groves took charge of the Manhattan Project in September 1942. Groves and J. Robert Oppenheimer had a complex relationship built on mutual need and respect; Groves overlooked Oppenheimer's security risks, recognizing his unique ability to manage the scientific effort, while Oppenheimer respected Groves' authority, bridging the gap between military and academic worlds.

An excellent companion piece to any Oppenheimer autograph or Atomic Bomb collection.

The Groves autograph has been thoroughly reviewed and CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC by PSA/DNA Authentication Services expert examination, and has been slabbed inside PSA/DNA's proprietary sonically-sealed encapsulate. UNCONDITIONALLY GUARANTEED GENUINE.

Condition is as shown with overall toning, and previous signs of mounting to verso. Small area of paper loss at lower left corner. Encapsulate measures appx. 4.25" x 7.25" with enclosed index card appx. 3" x 5" autograph.
