Authentic 1932 WANTED poster seeking "Information as to the whereabouts of CHAS. A LINDBERGH, Jr" in the aftermath of the Lindbergh baby kidnapping, 9.5" x 16", March 11, 1932 with two images of the blonde, curly-haired 20-month old child. A true artifact of the original "Crime of the Century".



"Son of Col. Chas. A Lindbergh, World-Famous Aviator, This child was kidnaped [sic] from his home in Hopewell, N.J., between 8 and 10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 1932. Description: Age, 20 months, Weight, 27 to 30 lbs., Height, 29 inches, Hair, blond, curly, Eyes, dark blue, Complexion, light, Deep dimple in center of chin, Dressed in one-piece coverall night suit. Address all communications to Col. H. N. Schwarzkopf, Trenton, N.J., or Col. Chas. A. Lindbergh, Hopewell, N.J." 


The posters were distributed nationwide by the New Jersey State Police. Today, they are considered highly collectible historical documents. 


The notorious 1932 kidnapping of 20-month old Charles Lindbergh, Jr. was truly the "Crime of the Century" where the toddler was abducted from his New Jersey home, leading to a massive manhunt, a $50,000 ransom payment, and ultimately the discovery of the child's body. Bruno Hauptmann was convicted and executed after ransom money was found in his home.


Condition is as shown with stains, chipping, folds, bends and wear consistent with age, use and handling. Archivally reinforced folds with some paper loss noted at upper right. Please review images carefully for exact condition.
