In August 1961, Monroe was still recuperating from gallbladder surgery, following a tumultuous first half of the year that included a divorce from playwright Arthur Miller, hospitalization for psychiatric care, and serious health struggles. Monroe had founded Marilyn Monroe Productions during this time to allow herself more creative freeing and control over her project. She was not filming however, having last appeared in The Misfits – her final completed role – which was released in February 1961.Sale includes accompanying original Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA who have thoroughly examined the Monroe check and certify its authenticity.
