Napoleon Bonaparte Signed Approval of the Import of Exotic Goods From French, American, and Asian Colonies
NAPOLEON BONAPARTE autograph partial ship's passport document dated January 18th, 1813 boldly signed as Emperor of France and King of Italy at center with a dramatic, large flourish. An iconic signature of the famed French General and ruler of the French Empire. Countersigned by French Ministers of Commerce, State, Navy and the Colonies. This maritime passport was issued to a vessel sailing from the port of Bordeaux, in wine country. Notably, just a few months after signing this document Napoleon would suffer a disastrous defeat at the Battle of Leipzig.
NOTE: The document was previously trimmed for framing and altered to pair the signature side (side 2) with the document’s printed header.
Although the document is partial, enough text remains to identify this as a passport for exotic trading similar to ones issued to the trading house "Paul Nairac" in Bordeaux.
The Napoleon autographed document has been thoroughly examined and CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC BY PSA/DNA EXPERT EXAMINATION. UNCONDITIONALLY GUARANTEED GENUINE. An investment-quality acquisition for any collection.
Condition is as shown, with trimming and alterations as noted above. Toning, stains, folds and paper loss consistent with age, use and handling. Previous signs of mounting to back. Document measures approximately 10.5” x 11.5".
Own a remarkable, investment-quality original piece of World history! Perfect for the autograph collector, Francophile or History buff. A must-have addition to the investment portfolio, den, Executive Office, Museum or Library.
