New Jersey Declaration Of Independence Signer - Richard Stockton Clipped Signature

Undated cut signature by Founding Father and Declaration of Independence signer Richard Stockton, removed from a document. Stockton signs with the same 1776 style signature he used on the Declaration of Independence and adds, "June 20. New York" in his hand.  The year is unknown.

A signature that carries a tangible link to the very beginnings of the United States!

Stockton signed the Declaration of Independence knowing it could cost him his freedom, his fortune, even his life. Stockton was captured by the British in late 1776, imprisoned for weeks in harsh, freezing conditions, and had his health permanently broken. Though thousands of Americans signed loyalty declarations to the Crown, Stockton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, refused to renounce the cause of liberty. He was eventually released, but never fully recovered, and died in 1781 at just fifty years old.

The RICHARD STOCKTON signature has been thoroughly reviewed and CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC BY PSA/DNA EXPERT EXAMINATION. The signature is encapsulated inside PSA/DNA's proprietary sonically-sealed, tamper-evident holder. UNCONDITIONALLY GUARANTEED GENUINE.

Cut measures appx. 2” x 3.75” inside 4.25" x 7.25" encapsulate. Some stains, light wrinkles, overall toning, consistent with age, use and handling. Ink remains impressively bold and strong.
