40th President of the United States RONALD REAGAN hand-signed "The President's Own MARINE BAND" program from September 27, 1982, almost certainly as POTUS. Reagan signs the program in black marker for his boyhood friend, Bill Thompson, from Reagan's hometown of Dixon, ILL. As such, Reagan playfully inscribes the program with his boyhood nickname, "Dutch" to Thompson and his wife Jean.
Thompson played an important role in the restoration of Reagan's boyhood home, where this concert took place. Reagan was not present that day so the brochure was likely signed later. The concert was held for the benefit of the Dixon High School band and the President's boyhood home. Includes an original event Sponsor ticket from the performance.
Thompson notes "original autograph" in a label attached beneath the Reagan signature. Throughout his Presidency, Bill Thompson kept in touch with Reagan. Signaturist-Ink acquired numerous pieces from the Thompson collection, some of which were intended for display in Reagan's boyhood home.
