40th President of the United States RONALD REAGAN hand-signed fantastic, early black & white photo inscribed to childhood best friend Bill Thompson. Reagan writes, "To Bill / Remember Lowell Park / Best Wishes / Dutch / 1950". According to Thompson's handwritten note, the photo was signed on September 15th, 1950.

Thompson played a pivotal role in the restoration of Reagan's family home in his hometown of Dixon, Illinois. While living in Dixon, beginning in 1926 at the age of 16, Reagan spent his summers lifeguarding at Lowell Park. It is believed he saved a total of 77 people from drowning at Lowell Park Beach.

As for his nickname, Reagan's father is reported to have said he resembled a "fat little Dutchman", reinforced when he wore a "Dutch Boy" haircut as a youngster – and thus the nickname "Dutch" stuck.
