Just 3 months before the infamous “Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, Tombstone officials issue this partly printed 1881 Tombstone City License for “Summerfield Brothers”, a dry goods and boots merchant on Fremont Street behind the OK Corral.
Fremont backed up to the site of the legendary gunfight featuring Virgil, Morgan, Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday. At the time of the showdown, Wyatt Earp was Assistant Marshall to his brother, Deputy U.S. Marshall and Tombstone City Marshal, Virgil Earp.
