THREE DAYS AFTER ATTENDING THE WASHINGTON CONFRENCE - CHURCHILL SIGNS THIS GIBRALTAR NOTE

Three days after meeting FDR and in the heat of World War II, UK Prime Minister WINSTON S. CHURCHILL signed this Gibraltar ten shilling note. The note was signed on the occasion of the maiden voyage of Churchill's custom made aircraft the Avro York LV633 on May 28th, 1943.

Additionally, the note is signed by some of the most important men in Great Britain during World War II including, Anthony Eden who would later succeed Churchill as Prime Minister, and several of the top British Military brass all of which who were documented to have accompanied Churchill on the maiden flight from Gibraltar, a British overseas territory, including:

  • Field Marshall HAROLD ALEXANDER of Tunis
  • Air Marshall ARTHUR WILLIAM TEDLER
  • Churchill's Son, RANDOLPH CHURCHILL
  • General HASTINGS ISMAY
  • Field Marshall ALAN BROOKE

Churchill initially used a converted B-24 Liberator bomber as his personal transport, however this wasn't very comfortable, so when the third Avro York was rolled out in February 1943 it was converted into a VIP transport for the Royal Family, the Prime Minister, and other dignitaries. Churchill was very keen to start using 'his' York, (now named 'Ascalon' after St. George's sword). Consequently, it was flown out to Gibraltar on May 26th to rendezvous with the P.M. for what would become its maiden flight with accompanying dignitaries.

The CHURCHILL signature has been thoroughly reviewed and CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC BY PSA/DNA EXPERT EXAMINATION and encapsulated inside PSA/DNA's sonically-sealed, tamper-evident holder – your assurance of absolute authenticity. UNCONDITIONALLY GUARANTEED GENUINE.

Condition is as shown. Bill is in used/circulated condition, with toning and tape at edges consistent with age, use and display.
