Soviet space hero and legendary Russian Cosmonaut YURI GAGARIN fantastic color image postcard of the capital city of the USSR featuring the authentic autograph of Gagarin penned across the top in bold blue ink. The image specifically features the Red Square which stood as the political and symbolic heart of Soviet power, while Gagarin embodies one of the USSR's greatest technological and ideological triumphs.

Gagarin was a Soviet pilot who became the first person in history to journey into outer space. Traveling on Vostok 1, Gagarin completed one orbit of earth on April 12, 1961 with a flight of 108 minutes. Vostok 1 was Gagarin's only space flight. Fearful that a national hero might be killed, Soviet officials banned Gagarin from further space flights, however Gagarin later died in a MIG-15 crash on a routine training flight. His ashes are interred in the walls of the Kremlin.

The Gagarin autograph has been thoroughly reviewed and CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC by JSA (James Spence Authentication). Sale includes JSA letter of authenticity.

Condition is as shown. The signed image has creases, some areas of paper loss, tear to the left margin repaired with tape on the back, overall toning. The postcard measures appx. 4" x 6".
